There are very specific and sometimes very technical federal regulations for the advertising of financial institution lending products. Sometimes the rules change based upon the media used and the rules are never intuitive. There are also rules that prohibit certain marketing practices. Knowledge of federal regulations is mandatory for a compliant loan advertising and marketing program for a financial institution. There are so many rules that we had to split our guides into two in order to distinguish the lending advertising rules from the deposit and non-deposit investment product advertising rules! This guide focuses on the many complex advertising rules governing closed-end and open-end credit products.
